Re: New 5kq clutch is slipping ???
Thanks for your thoughts, Arden. To verify this I called Blau. Their
techs were infinitely helpful, as always.
What I took from the conversation is that the Sachs stuff they believe
they sent me are the right components for the 5ktq and the urq.
Unfortunately all we had to go by was the invoice, the parts can not
be inspected and the packing material has been discarded. There is
still a possiblity that the parts shipped didn't match the invoice.
I asked them about the possiblity of lower spec parts for a 4k or a
5ks fitting my 5ktq. Although their answers were a bit qualified,
they left me fairly optimistic that inappropriate parts would not have
fit my application. Does anyone think differently?
I keep coming back to the threaded pin on the master cylinder. There
is currently *zero* free play in the clutch, i.e., if I touch the
clutch at all, it slips more. It would therefore seem that I need to
allow the master cylinder to extend more, but the threaded pin is
already fully screwed into the clutch pedal. I cannot see any way of
getting more extension without shortening this pin.
I would really appreciate input from someone who has messed around
with adjusting this threaded pin.

PS: I noticed one thing about the master cylinder that I whould
mention. On the old master cylinder access to one of the Allen
bolts was blocked by the feeder port, making it almost impossible
to remove. On the replacement part the port had been moved slightly
to provide this access. I took this as a positive thing, but am now
wondering if this might mean that the master cylinder I installed is
the wrong part.
