Maybe not Chris. 

My Pearl White 1986 5000cstq, built 11/85, has the rear window 
defrost on a separate dash switch -not- on the climate control 
panel.

Maybe they changed over sometime during 11/85 production. 
Another example of Audi's creativity with running changes 
during manufacturing.
