but what are you starting with?  A motor with huge miles already? 
rebuilt does not = new.  a motor from a totalled low mile car?  a car
hit hard enough to ruin it might have some issues with the block too.

A factory new engine... is a great place to start *if you can*

I don't think Alex is knocking MC swaps - he is responding to people
knocking 1.8t swaps.

I see no problem - if I was to upgrade my engine and want over 200 hp, I
like the idea of a smaller block.  leaves some room to work in the bay,
maybe?

nut since I'm not paying, & not playing, maybe my "opinion" is of little
merit...!
