fuel pump whines and car stalls
Looking for some opinons on this. The 87 5kcstq has started to stall every now
and then. When it does stall the fuel pump whine becomes louder. Right after the
stall the car starts up and runs fine. This happens, oh, maybe once a day, and
not any particular time. Some times the car will run for 50 miles without the
stall, and other times it will stall within a mile of traveling. The fuel pump
was replaced about two yesrs ago, the injectors were done about two months ago
along with the fuel filter. My son, the car is his daily driver, thinks that it
is the fuel tank itself, that the crud in tank is choking the fuel flow. I'm not
so sure of this. I would think that if it is tank crud that the engine would
exhibit other symptoms, such as rough idling, poor pickup, and that it wouldn't
start right up after a stall. Any ideas about this?
