Sounds like the fuel pump is about to go south.  Soon it probably won't just
start again right away. Yes, the FP  *should* last more than two years, but
sometimes they don't.

I had this same type of thing happen on my '87 a few years ago.  It only
gave me two warnings in the form of stalling.  Then one morning in January I
was driving down the Maine turnpike at 85 mph when the car just shut off.
Not a good feeling--espically when it's -10 f degrees!  Replaced the pump,
and no more problems.
