Re: '87 4kq engine noises
could be the vacuum pump if you're lucky. it's on the left side of the
head, in the vacuum line to the brake booster. it can be taken off, the
drive rod removed, and put back in place, if it is the culprit.
also could be a water pump asking to be replaced. (timing belt and
crank seal while you're in there)
