Ordering parts

Hello List,

I have a question for the listers acquainted with the internal workings of
Audi dealerships and Audi parts distribution system.
As you (hopefully) remember, in September my Audi was rear-ended and after
succesfully resolving some issues with the insurance company I took the car
to the local VW/Audi/Porsche dealer to have the car fixed.
Well, the problem is, it's almost *six weeks* since they ordered the parts
for my car and the parts have not arrived yet. I call them every week and
they keep telling me somthing along the lines "We are sorry, it's not our
fault, it's a rare car and getting parts for it may take some time, we bet
they will arrive soon" etc. I understand that's not their fault and I also
understand that since my car is US-spec finding a bumper cover for it may
not be as easy as for plain European version, but now I'm starting to
worry. Is there a way the dealer (or myself) can check with the Audi in
Germany (or whoever is responsible for processing parts orders) what is
exactly going on with my order? Do I have any guarantee that the parts will
arrive it a reasonable time? My car is sitting there, on the dealer's lot,
unprotected from elements, with body damage and I don't have any clue as to
when it will be finally repaired.
