Just some rambling observations.

I saw a 1988 auto, steel rimmed, 80 today for $1895 (NH, for phone
number email me & I'll get it).

It was a bit ratty looking.

So Audi current history (US version) seems to start around 1980 or so.
Those of us who caught the bug and cut our teeth on those cars are now
used to the $1-2k cars that need serious detailing and tweaking to get
them back to their former glory. We also have developed a pretty good
knowledge base for doing just this.

Now the "next wave" of cars, using the euro model numbers again, are
getting cheap to buy in some cases, and beginning to develop the
"special old Audi" quirks. Please remember the reason for this
mattering - they are such great cars to drive we want to fix them, not
junk them. Cars that suck to drive never get to have these things
fixed, they just get crushed at 12 years old.

It will be interesting to see the base of data grow as more and more
people start solving the common 150,000 mile early 90's Audi problems...
and the posts that start coming in about the 90 quattro someone just
bought, that runs great but not all the time, has only one working power
window and... what *will* the common quirks be?
