Before its demise, my '89 90q had a full Stebro exhaust on it. I too was
having problems with mounting brackets and, in fact, the bracket on the
front muffler broke (and the rear muffler's passenger side bracket was
cracked and going to break soon). It was welded by a friend, and broke
again in about 6 weeks. I contacted Stebro through email, and Dan
Petschenig from there returned my email and told me he'd send some
brackets that wouldn't fail. They arrived after my car got totaled, so
I never had a chance to use them, but they looked like they'd be solid.
They were shiny SS round stock as opposed to the original flat SS stock,
and were quite a bit more rigid. I've still got them somewhere.

I'm still in negotiations with the insurance company about that 90q (they
seriously lowballed me) but have considered keeping it, at salvage value,
to part out. I suppose I could at least get a couple of hundred for that
Stebro system that's less than a year old.
