RE: Lousy AM band reception
This is probably a problem with the antenna/amplifier in the rear
windshield. The rear antenna serves both AM and FM, while the front
windshield antenna is only used for FM. If you have a mast antenna, it may
be as simple as someone plugged the antenna into the wrong port on the deck.
I've looked into the problem on my car where the AM reception went away
after having the airbag recall done. When I complained, my wonderful dealer
swapped the front and rear connections at the deck, which gave me crappy AM.
I have since reconnected things the way that they are supposed to be, and
AFAICT the problem is a broken wire in the antenna lead. From working
through a similar problem with Anton I'm pretty sure that the problem is at
the connector that attaches to the back of the deck.
