WTB:A/C controller 875kcstq
My 87 5kcstq needs an A/C controller box behind the glove box (not the
electronic head unit with the buttons on the dash).
The gears that move the Bowden cable are binding at one point and I have to
reach in behind the glove box and help the motor shove the cable past the
hang-up zone.
A comment from anyone who solved this problem in some creative and/or
inexpensive way would be very welcome at this point. Some parts numbers
would help. I understand there is an older model , and one that came along
about 1986 and beyond.
I checked the archives and found lots of activity on this thread, connected
to Andrew L. Duane , Brett Dikeman, Daniel Hussey, Chris Miller, and
Cobram. Hope they point me in some better direction. I'm afraid of used
units....perhaps an unfounded fear.
Assuming the worst (no creative or inexpensive fixes), does anyone have
some input on getting a new one at minimal cost? I got the impression these
boxes are generic GM units and probably available widely. Vendors please
respond if you see this.
IF the new one isn't outrageously expensive, I'd go that route. And if it
IS really costly, I'd look at used alternatives from list members.
