RE: What's best for leather?

Rex,
I'm no Audi expert, but this I can help you with. The stuff you're thinking
about is called Connolly Hide Food. Supposedly excellent stuff. I think
Lexol works great as well, but it
leaves a slightly greasy residue which can be annoying. I've tried Eagle 1
leather conditioner,
and that stuff is really greasy- not recommended for regular use, although
it really helped
in a car that hadn't had any leather conditioner for a couple years and was
showing the
effects of neglect. Eagle 1 really takes a lot of buffing to get most of the
greasiness
off. I've also been told that Zymol's leather conditioner works really well,
but it's
really pricey as well.

With a lot of these products, I think YMMV, depending on the type of
leather, how it
has been treated in the past, climate, etc. I would try a few different
products and
see which one you like best. I personally use Lexol, but that's because I
can't find
Hide Food (probably mail order is easiest), I'm lazy and I don't have any
leather in
my current vehicle except for the steering wheel and shift knob.

Kind of like wax- I've been using Meguiar's No.26 for a few years now with
excellent
results. Maybe not the absolute best shine, but it lasts. Others prefer
Zymol, Pinnacle,
One Grand, etc. Just don't use something like Turtle Wax or Nu Finish.

Regards,
Taka Mizutani

Subject: What's best for leather?

After 5 different Audis, the V8Q is the first one for me with leather. I
noticed somewhere that it is connely leather. May have mis-spelled, but
anyhow, what is the best treatment for these? American leather is more or
less vinyl treated and Amor-All works fine, but somehow I DON'T think this
is what I want for these. They are in real good shape and I want to keep it
that way. Any suggestions? I have heard of "Hide Food" but don't know if it
is good or where you get it.
