next query:

I've got a US spec car somehow, and my newsed dist. is, of course, a
Canadian specification.

Do I need to do anything with the vacuum retard?

Prefered answer is "Yes, ignore it,", but if I need to plumb it in
somewhere, I will. Could the advance degrees begin counting from the most
retarded position, and not the "middle ground"?

I hope not.

Anyone know the reason for the different initial timing between US and
Canadian cars? 9 degrees seems like a lot.
