Oh come on, no it isnt. The only part of that shifter that is 50 bucks is 
the shift rod itself.  I replaced every single part in my shift linkage 
in my UrQ (same stuff as in a 4kq), and the ball part was only about 5 
bucks.  I would recommend replacing everything in there, except the shift 
rod that is, if it is ok...it just makes a world of difference.  YOu dont 
need to buy the plate or anything metal, just get the rubber part that 
holds the ball that you push into the metal plate...

It took me about 30 mintues to do the whole thing...its quite simple...
