Re: V8's...Any Porsche cross breeding here?

No. There is nothing in common between the Porsche V8 and the Audi V8
except that they are both 8 cylinders in a vee format...
The Audi V8 has its roots in the VW/Audi I4 and I5 motors. The block
is essentially two VW I4 engines fused into one. The Audi V6 engine
is also a derivative, basically the V8 with one less cylinder on each
bank. Many of these engines share common bore sizes and spacing, and
much of the valve train design are also shared amongst these engines,
given similar generations/vintage .
The 944 engine is essentially half of the 928 engine, but these Porsche
engines do not share any designs/lineage with those of other VW/Audi
engines..
