Re: Thinking of buying a '91 200TQ
Too much for basic email, IMO. The car is very sophisticated, and expensive
to get fixed by someone else. There are some excellent websites devoted to
your question. Real shrines, actually. If I were considering $8-10k for a
'black box' used car, I'd be interested in knowing everything about how it
has been maintained, and how much I was going to need to spend to get it
sorted out once it was in my garage. And this one can be costly. I'd try to
get it evaluated by someone very familiar with that model.
The nearest thing I know to that is to suggest that you read what several
excellent writers have said about their ownership experience.
Go to <http://members.aol.com/c1j1miller/> first and spend about an hour
reading about exactly what you are asking for. And then go to
<http://www.sjmautotechnik.com> and check out some of the fine points.
<http://welcome.to/tobiasjansson> is pretty good also.
I'm sending you my general checklist by private mail, for weeding out big
problems on used Audis. But it isn't specific for the level of
sophistication in the 91 200q.
