Thanks for this input. The same had occurred to me but the folks at
Blaufergnugen assured me that this was not the case with the Sachs
plates they sent me. (No, I have not fixed my clutch. Weather this
weekend was good enough to do it but it was *too* good to waste of
car repairs).

I am holding the (slightly noisy) throw-out bearing that I removed
from my car. Attached to it are the retaining springs and the clips
that attach these springs to the bearing. All these pieces were
included on the new bearing that replaced this bearing.

When you pull the CVs apart you should work on only one at a time.
You don't want to mix pieces from the two CVs. Also, Bentley will
tell you to mark the relative position of the inner and outer piece of
the CV. I don't quite see the point of this (they don't tell you to
put balls back into their original groove), but it is easy to comply
with.
