I suspect someone with a lot of slightly later Audi experience could
make a fun project of that car.  Get a no rust example or don't bother. 
CIS would be nice, what year did that start?  Though I guess carbs can
be fun, too.

You'd better be good with a meter and a circuit diagram - if you can
find a circuit diagram* - because I bet that electrics will be 80% of
your troubles.

*if you can't maybe one could be cobbled together...

PS why do I get the feeling I want to help??
