Re: Looking for early 100 avdice

related advice

My first car was a '71 100LS. I'd recommend avoiding any from the late 60's
(or whenever they first came out) through the '77 model year. In the USA
market, Audi rebadged the 100 the 5000 in 1978, presumably to rid the new
model of the poor reliability reputation of the earlier model. OTOH, if it
is still running, all its infant mortality problems should be over by now.
Maybe that was the problem with them. Mine needed a valve-job and a new
clutch when it was hit and totaled. It is only by random chance (the first
car in my price range I found to replace it happened to be an Audi as well)
that I continued owning Audis and am an Audi fan today.

But seriously, it was actually a really great car. (When it ran.)

Maybe one of the 1.8Ts being offered for sale could be transplanted in...
