Re: 16v head in an 80

What about pistons? I was thinking about getting a used 16v head that
was on the 80 Sport 16v 2.0 in europe and I remember being told the pistons
would have to be changed. I now personally would get a 8v big valve head
and port 'n' polish the intake to compliment the extra flow. Throttle body
flows well enough in the stock form so that is fine. The CIS-Motronic can
deliver plenty of go juice without mods, 4 cylinders don't have CIS-3 but a
self adaptive version of it with an integrated ignition/fuel system ECU.
I already have a K&N but that doesn't do much powerwise. Also with the
big valve head I'd get my 270 HOR Tech cam in there. 8v heads can flow
better than a 16v head if done properly, this is what I have been lead to
believe and I do. The 16v swap would be sweet, but getting proper intake
gear would be a toughy, but not impossible.

Good Luck and if you do it please do tell, do tell!
