Re: I NEED A DEAD CAT! (4KQ senior project)

Paul;

Don't have one for you... but maybe a bit of a BTDT. My 5ks has no Cat.
Well, its cat has no inards. In my area, Atlanta, just modifying the fuel
mixture will change the exaust and give the appearence that a catalytic
converter is working. They stick a mirror underneath the car (because they
don't want to bend over) and see if there is a cat present. Last time I was
there, with the body of the cat, and the modified (crappy) fuel mixture I
got away scott free.

Maybe someone out there can explain why the fuel mixture works. I think its
because it removes most of the oxygen and prevents nitris-oxide from being
formed???

Good luck,
Ryan Gemmill

the tings I am doing is modifying my exhaust line which is completely stock
at the moment. My plans are 1. remove catalytic converter, 2.remove middle
muffler 3. possibly change exhaust manifold.

converter to remove the guts from and install. That way when it comes smog
time again I can swap in the old cat and pass with flying colors (or maybe
just scrape by!) I would be interested in knowing how other listers have
done this. I am guessing that I am not the first... If someone out there has
one they would be willing to part with.

and can be made to fit?
