I once asked those NTW garage dudes of how they limit torque on those air
impact wrenches. I know the existance of torque-limiting extension things,
but I didn't see any around. What I was told? He brought the impact
wrenche and showed me a dial on the wrench itself. It has hair markings,
but no figures or numbers whatsoever. He said, and I quote, "That's about
70ft-lb by sliding the switch right there." Back at home, I used a 1-ft
long breaker and see how tight it was (and I got torque wrench, too). I
weigh 170, and I had to *jump* on it several times to loosen the nuts. My
guess was the nuts are torqued around 200 pounds with that "70ft-lb"
setting on the impact wrench. )^:
Then, these idiots proved they've achieved the right torque by checking
it with torque wrench *AFTER* they used impact wrench. And they confirmed
all nuts were at 70ft-lb. (^;
