andrew frankel on the quattro
andrew frankel (editor of "motoring news") in his sunday times column had
this to say about his 7 all-time favourite cars:
------------
"during my 11 years as a motoring journalist i have driven many, many cars
and am always asked which one was my favourite. it is a difficult question
to answer on the spot....
the next stop is the audi quattro - the original quattro, the most
significant drivers car of the 1980's. not so very long ago i drove a very
early example from geneva to london and was staggered by how fast, capable
and comfortable it was. back in 1981, it must have been science-fiction.
audi, despite its fine product ranges, has yet to build a better drivers
car.
audi quattro: the later the better. make sure it has a torsen differential
and, ideally, the later 1980's 20v engine."

fyi, the other cars he mentions are the peugeot 205gti, lancia integrale,
bmw m5, jaguar xjr, ferrari f355 and mclaren f1.
