timing mark

alexander, i ran into a similar problem when i did my timing belt in march.
on my 86 5kcdtq the front harmonic balancer mark bore no relation to the
correct mark on the flywheel. have a friend look for the flywheel mark as
you _very slowly_ turn the engine with the crankshaft bolt. once it has been
located paint the mark the colour of your choice, huw likes yellow, and then
verify the other things...distributor, camshaft pip, and make a new _correct
mark on the harmonic balancer. if the camshaft pip isnt visible do another
revolution of the crankshaft. on some cars you can look into the oil filler
hole and see the camshaft to check the cam lobes position at tdc on #1.
