Ah
It's the magic of all the mail servers being in Sweden, you would be right though to think it a long way to commute. Wouldn't mind taking my Q over in the winter though. Your car has a similar mileage to mine (111,000) most of my bushes were shot and I had one badly leaking shock, so I thought whilst I have got it all apart don't mess about and do it properly. It's quite easy to do if you got the facilities and tools, by facilities I mean big bench vice and tools you will need some of Audi's special tools (my Audi dealer lent me them for the weekend), and also hired a hub puller that bolts onto the hub using the wheel bolts and spring compressors. As a tip I bought the shocks from Audi, (stiff enough for my liking) and the bushes for the rollbar. Top mounts and A arm's go for German & Swedish they are miles cheaper and they even have the part no on them.
I took the re build in two bites, I did the shocks and top mounts first then the A arms and roll bar bushes. If you want know how to do it let me know, it's not too bad a job. I did it for the first time, quite a sense of achievement I can tell you. What's the story on the buy back of the Coupe????
Cheers
Iain

lian,
I think you may be right, I'll probably replace the bushes because it has
done 108k on the originals (I guess). Isn't it a bit of a long way to work
from Sussex to Sweden ? (judging by you e-mail address).
Simon
P.S. I'm in Herfordshire, haven't been on this list for about 2-3 years but
I only got the car back last week!

Sussex. Best thing to do is have a good look over the suspension, there
is a bush that the roll bar goes onto in the A arm which is a favourite to
wear. But I guess if the car is getting on with mileage and age then it
could be a combination of various other bushes as well like the A arm ones
for instance. I own an '85 Coupe Quattro ( same front end) and have just
rebuilt my front suspension with all new rubbers, shocks, top mounts (could
be this also) etc etc. Car handles like new now, so maybe it's time to do
some refurb???
