Timing change makes idle go nuts, ISV?
I got the idle back to spec, 6BTDC, yesterday. I waited until this
morning to test drive. I had noticed a weird idle problem last night when
dropping the the throttle from 4k rpm. The idle would dip and bounce back.
Today I took the car for a hard drive and revved it up good. When it
came time to go back to idle the idle was bonkers. Up and down over and
over and would not stablaize until the car was restarted. The DPR current
is within spec after the timing change. I suspect the ISV could be the
culprit. It is 1 year old and has been adkusted by the local Bosch shop,
but there has always been a lurking problem with idle. Anyone ever
experience a problem with the ISVor idle characteristic when adjusting
timing? Also the air flow potentiometer is a possible culprit.
I also am wondering about the idle switch again. I think that the idle
switch is adjusted so that it is clicking to early. I can hear the click
but there is still a tiny bit of closing movement on the throttle linkage.
This would also cause my surging problem at 1,500 rpm maybe?
Thanks!
