re: Hydraulic fluid
The rack will live a very long life if proper fluid is used and kept clean.
My 86 5Ktq has the -original rack- no rebuilds, nothing, and it is bone dry.
My entire hyraulic system is dry. So your assertion that they all leak
anyway isn't fact. My guess is you didn't keep the fluid clean and flush it
on a regular schedule.
My question is, why? Will it cause the rack to leak? Will it cause the bomb
to go bad? Will it make the pump leak? Seems like these all take a s#%t on
these cars anyhow.....I started using NAPA power steering fluid AFTER my
rack started to leak at 80k miles. Car now has 125k miles with same pump and
bomb. I don't say this should be the answer, but got tired of the $$ for
Audi stuff. If it is SO GREAT, why does everybody have to replace everything
