Fixing vac leak messes things up
After rejoicing at eliminating a vacuum leak by replacing the y shaped vac
hose from ISV / intake, etc new problems arise. The other recent repair was
a new center muffler cause the pipe was cracked & the insides sounded
rotted. (86 4KCSQ).
The new problem that arose is an occasional period of uneven power,
sometimes leading to a stall or near stall. Restarts usually on first
attempt. I was having a really time isolating this cause it happens
infrequently, and before now, only when my daughter was in the car (bitching
& moaning - this car is a POS.....
Tonite, while I was alone it happened again and was prolonged :-)
Accidentally, while investigating, I knocked off the vac hose which enters
along side the injectors. As the hose sucked air, the engine breathed a sigh
of relief. I temporarily created a small leak at they Y hose that I replaced
& things seem somewhat better.
Can anyone help me here? Did someone connect my vacuum system backwards
somewhere? Any BTDT?
TIA,
Jeff
