My take on turbo vs V8
Now that I've had the V8q a few days, I can give a short 'seat of the
pants' input on 200q vs V8q...
The chipped 200q is definitely quicker and livelier. The V8 moves a lot
slower/more sedate in town. Interestingly, the highway revs/mph are
almost exact. The V8 has much more body roll - the size of the strut
piston is much larger - looks like a Bistein. Some of this roll I have
to chalk up to the 105K stock shocks. The 200q has less than 30K on its
set.
The V8 NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) is worlds better. There was a
marked improvement betwixt my 87 and 89, but the V8 makes a quantum leap
in these departments. Guess I'm reasonably tone deaf - the Bose system
is satisfactory, and reception is nearly on par with my expensive Sony.
The sound of the V8 at full song is positively intoxicating...
