Actually, 185/70-14's work quite well. Sure, they are slightly taller and
effect the speedo. But the 4kq speedos read fast anyhow, this just makes
them MORE accurate. By about 2mph or something. The extra Ground
clearance is nice. Even it is is a small difference, many roads I travel
int he winter, a 1/2" difference is the difference between getting there
and not. OR arriving with no rear muffler.
Of course with my 90q rear springs and ligher front end, the car
has plenty of clearance now. :-) Need an alignment though.
As for the 16's. 205/45-16's work just fine. I dont know about
the 35mm offset but that should work fine as well. THats what I'm
running but on a 7" wide wheel not a 7.5" wheel. However, I've even seen
an 84' 4kq with 16" A4 Sport wheels with 215/40-16 tires and they fit
fine. YOu can see a picture at my Web Site.

Scroll Down to the bottom of the page. BTW, the car is Ned's Daughters.
ANd the Coupe with the TSW's next to it is Gary Eriksons. THat couple I
believe has 205/45-16's. BUt maybe thats Pat Martins 4ktq that has that
size.
Anyhow, you can grind away a little of the inner fender supposedly
to get a little extra room if you need. Havent' BTDT Yet but will soon as
the ur-q and 4ktq will be sharing track times. :-) Tim Valencia said
215's should fit fine (As evidenced by Ned's car (but that has ET 45 Rims)
and that 225's might work.
