Re: Long Distance Trip
In the summer of '97 I had three long distance trips, one from Toronto to
Kansas City via Chicago and back and a month later from Toronto to Dallas
and back to Toronto via Washington DC. I averaged about 800-1000mi a day on
both trips. Two months later I left Toronto and drove myself and my
belongings (as much as I could fit in the car) to my new job in Vancouver,
Canada via Washington DC. This last trip, which added over 4000mi to my
odometer, took me 4 days, so it's one thou a day again. I had no problems
with a car whatsoever, except my "bomb"showed first signs of dying in
Montana, but it didn't slow me down. All this in completely stock car
without any special preparations. I have a one great car and it's the best I
ever had. I do have to spend money on it sometimes ($2500 most recently) but
it never ever left me stranded or refused to start in the morning.
Judging by the troubles other guys on the list are having, I guess I am just
plain lucky (knock on wood). It's a wonderful interstate cruiser and no less
wonderful street drug racer. Long live Audi!
