This symptom reminds me of something that happened on my 86/5ks nt. There
is this "thingy" that malfunctions.. i wish i knew what it was called. it
is a little rectangular box about 2 inches high, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch
deep. It is located near the silvery fuel lines by the airfilter.. it has
a clip attached to it with 2 thin wires that run off it. Anyways, the
first thing I think would be to see if that clip's connections have rusted
out.. a little contact-cleaner can solve that. If not, try pulling the
actual box off (it is held on by 2 screws. Be careful, have a rag handy
-- as soon as you loosen it some fuel will squirt out at you from the
sides of the box (watch your eyes :) and check for obstructions...

The problem that I had was that I would start the car (it was hard to
start.. btu when it did startt, the RPM's would just fall lower and lower
till the car shut off unless I kept my foot on the gas.)

Cheers!
