Re: Snow Tires

I had a set of Nokia's on my 4000Q when I lived in VT,
I had the Nokia NRW's, Loved them, no problem in the
snow and the back hill dirt roads in VT.

Here is my take I have had nokia's both the hakka's
and the NRW's and have friends that have used the
blizzaks.

Nokia NRW's: although tread design is not as
aggressive as the other two with quattro you should
have no problem in the snow. The lower profile is
better for breaking and cornering and since the tread
design is not as aggressive as the the other 2 will
not buzz on the highway. Also they didn't wear as
much.

Nokia Hakkapellita's: A very aggressive tread
design, and higher profile this caused them to buzz at
higer speeds and cornering and stopping were a little
iffy at times. The Hakka's are a go anywhere, climb
the side of a barn tire. Especially with quattro.

Bridgestone Blizzaks:(this info is from when I drove
my friends VW Jetta) The blizzaks are a great tire for
snow or climbing hills but that was about all that I
noticed that they were good for. Regular driving was
very mushy, felt like I was riding on neoprene pads,
cornering was the same, although traction was great
the lateral movement of the tires was too.

That is why I opted for the Nokia NRW's, If you're
willing to pay a little more than the other two I
would look into these. Also since they are a lower
profile tire, driving in the spring/summer isn't that
bad either.
