Re: 90q climate control stinks
Fresh air enters the climate control system via the air conditioner
evaporator box that's beneath the flimsy rain cover that extends from the
base of the windshield to the top lip of the firewall. There's a flap on
the back side of the box, which is on the US passenger side of the vehicle.
You may be smelling petroleum dripping onto hot exhaust system parts and
vaporizing in the engine compartment, with the vapor being pulled into the
fresh air flap. There's a seal running across the top of the firewall lip
that helps hold down the rain diverter's leading edge and also, I'd guess,
is supposed to help prevent engine odors from reaching the fresh air
system. Perhaps that seal is not sealing properly.
