'88 5kcstq nostart saga...

Hello again,

Well, I constructed a neat replacement for the rubber boot that was
severed, that vents the valve cover area to the intake airspace. I
made it out of a speed shop aluminum fuel fitting, and three pieces
of steel braided fuel hose.

I was excited to try to start it after putting it on. Unfortunately,
nothing has changed, and it still won't start.

I have not been able to pull off the big intake boot, that goes
between the metering plate and the t-body. I can't get to the
bottom hose clamp, and it seems like I need to remove the metal
tube that runs from the, um, turbo to the intercooler, I think. If that
pipe was out of the way, then I could get a screwdriver to the hose
clamp on the fuel distributor/metering unit.

I have not removed the michelin man hose and inspected it yet.
These two projects will probably happen this weekend. I pulled the
battery out so I can charge it up, as it has been cranking the motor
quite a bit lately without being charged back up.

What a letdown. I have to sift through the recent emailed
suggestions, and start ruling things out. I really thought that was
the problem, and that I'd have it solved.

Yes, I have been checking Scott's http://www.sjmautotechnik.com
site. Excellent info. I haven't checked everything suggested yet.

Thanks,

Ken
