I wonder if you would actually lose your deposit?  It would be worth
taking legal advice, perhaps starting at the Citizens Advice Bureau.

I think there are two aspects of misrepresentation.  The first is that
the TT has been hyped as 'rare and exclusive' - neither of which it is,
with 42,000 running around and at least 1750 in the UK.  Remember - TOTAL
ur-quattro production was 11,000 in 11 years - the TT is 40+ times that.
The second is that Audi seem to have known about the problems for many
months.  Post after post on the German TT newsgroup states that potential
buyers were being warned off by their dealers during the summer.

I know of a number of people who got hold of early LHD cars when they
believed the RHD would not come for a while, and they're left sitting
on them.
