Well, I made it...(was Pat's tranny blues)

Yes, I made the trip from Tampa to Pensacola in the 5k. This message is
coming to you from my dad's state of the art Pentium 120 computer with 28.8k
modem.

I put the TransX in before I left.
It seems to have helped ever so slightly, as first gear doesn't drag out
quite so long.
One thing I did notice which has probably been happening all along is the
fact that second gear is nonexistent. The trans shifts from 1st to 3rd.
This may explain why 1st gear drags out so long, usually to 4 grand before
it shifts. Then only if I lift off the accel pedal.

I purchased a new pan gasket and filter before leaving town, so I have a
Turkey day project. The TransX bottle instructions say for dirty
transmissions or cars with over 80k miles to run the additive mixed 10/1
with ATF, drive 100 miles and drain. Then refill with 20/1 mix.

I'll probably look at the valve body too, maybe even attempt to clean it.
Not really sure if thats a good idea 500 miles from home. Somebody
suggested a broken 2nd gear band/piston circlip, so inspecting the valve
body may be a good idea after all.

Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'm keeping my eyes out for a 5spd 5k
parts car.
