RE: 4kq with turbo vs. UR quattro

As a former co-driver of a PRO rally car in the Pacific Northwest, you need
to be worrying about a lot of other things before you start worrying about
horsepower. I am presuming that this will be your first experience driving
around the woods at night, flat out, and not knowing where you are going.
Buy a normally aspirated 4000q and make sure you have enough money left over
for spare parts, and tires and wheels and brakes and shocks and windshields
and driving lights, tow vehicle, race seats, intercom, helmet, flame suit,
etc. Most of the drivers I knew started in something that didn't completely
scare them to death at the beginning. When they knew they were faster than
their car, they traded up. Showing up at a race with a fully sorted and
well prepared rally car is an expensive proposition.

That said, where are you geographically? Close to Chicago?

Subject: 4kq with turbo vs. UR quattro

I am interested in getting into rally racing, and am
looking at either purchasing a 4kq and swapping out
the engine for one with a turbo, or just buying a UR
quattro that I have lead on. Could anyone give the
pros and cons of the two. cost wise, both longterm and
short term and also any expierences that anyone would
like to share would be great help in my decision.
I really like the UR quattro, but heard buying parts
for these is hard and expensive compared to the 4kq,
But also know that swapping out the engine on the 4kq
for a turbo is no small task.

Thanks in advance.
