I have seen this on other turbos as well which is part of what got my
gears turning on this.

I took a closer look at the housing, and the smaller oil opening on the
bottom (8mm ID) should be a no brainer. Plenty of metal surrounding it
and also plenty deep. The larger opening on the top however is a bit of a
mystery. The opening is NOT circular, and there appears to be a "lip" on
the flat side of the oil passage. At first glance, there does appear to
be enough metal to drill out the opening to be completely circular (about
18mm ID) and to then tap it for threads. One potential issue is the
debth of the hole. The large oil passage on the top only goes down about
10-12mm before opening up to a large cavern like section. I wonder if
there will be enough thread there to give a good seal? The other issue is
how well I could close off the openings before I put the drill to
it. Definately don't want metal bits in there!! I wouldn't dare
do this as an experiment on my brand new K24 before testing it first.....

Indeed. Anybody got a K26/24 that is no good? All I really need is the
center housing to try out this theory.... Anyone??
