RE: Gear and fd ratio's for 016 tranny
I don't have the number here with me but from the research I did I
determined that all 4000 quattro's (US spec, 4 door sedan, non-turbo) have
the same final drive ratio but the 3rd, 4th and 5th gear ratios change. They
all use the 4.11 final drive and the 84 4000 quattro has lower gearing for
3rd, 4th, and 5th. I may be mistaken about 3rd gear being lower but from the
best of my memory (what's left of it anyway) it is lower. I am quite sure of
the final drive ratio and 4th and 5th gears. I used several different
factory publications to come to my conclusions. I have my results "filed
away" at home so I may never be able to find them again but I'll look.
Take care

Subject: Gear and fd ratio's for 016 tranny
Can someone send me the gear and final drive ratios for the
016 quattro
tranny, the tranny code is US, its in an '87 4kq. I looked
thru the
archives and the bentley, nothing. Although the bentley
does list them for
the 013 box.
The past discussions of the fd ratio are interesting but it
doesn't look
like it was ever resolved. I seem to have one of the cars
that does 80 mph
@ 3600rpm in 5th.
