Re: Snows for 5kcstq
Just for fun one day we had a late snow in Central NY. It was fresh (and
had a bad mouth too) Okay, now the just for fun part. I didn't have to go
anywhere and I had already switched back to 195/60-14 Dunlop D60A2's on
my '84 4KQ, so I figured I would compare the performance of these so
called "all-season-performance" tires against my snow tires, 185/65-14
Kelly Pacemarks. Assesment:
Stable, but much slower on acceleration
Braking, again slides noticably more than the snows
Turn in, WHAT? You expect them to turn at the same speed as the snows?
Drop Throttle Turning, (So that's what was behind me!!!) Easy to spin in
this situ.
Note, this was a test to compare the tires, no traffic nor poles nor
trees nor fuzzy animals were harmed in this test. Basically, things that
were not a thought running the snow tires were WELL BEYOND the limits of
the All-Season(?) tires.
Verdict: If there are regular snows in your area - DRIVE on SNOW TIRES.
The margin you create may be your own, especially since there are so
many other brilliant citizens have decided that they don't need them!
