Although I always pay cash for my cars -- relatively easy to do when they're
as cheap as Audis used to be -- I have on a few occasions cash-advanced a
credit-card when I didn't have any with me ... you can then finance the car
when you get it back home, if necessary. It might cost a few hundred bucks
in service charges but if the car isn't priced at least that much under
market, then why bother with it in the first place, especially when it's out
of state?

If you absolutely must arrange financing for the car first, then see if the
seller's bank is willing to act as an intermediary for your bank ... my
father went through this once when he sold a car to someone from out of state
and they acted like it was an everyday occurence.
