Judging from our experience on my & Rui's rally cars, 2nd gear seems to be
the first to go. I've gone through
2 trannies in 3 seasons of racing. We put different demands on the gears
than a track car would though so you may have different experiences. Rui's
car is putting out about 435 hp, whereas mine is at about 345 hp.
I looked into having new gearsets made, the cost was up there though. I may
look into have a new mainshaft made with stronger 1st & 2nd gears, that
would allow me to change the ratios as well as beef them up.
