It is a major main in the rear, but it is possible to do in about 15-20 minutes.
You MUST remove the headlamp assembly, which requires removal of the grille and
the metal trim below. They are all phillips screws. then remove the plastic
shroud behind the headlamp (this is the passenger side btw) and you can get to
the push on clamps around the filter housing. Carefully, but with a little
force, you can lift the top of the housing with all fuel lines still attached
and slide out the old filter. Okay, so the old filter will tear into countless
pieces, but hey, you are replacing it, right? Reinstalling an OEM filter must be
a real task, I have only done it with a K&N replacement. They have pretty strong
frames and will hold up to you shoving it in. Then just reassemble the front end
pieces, and voila! You are done. A small amount off blood loss through the
knuckles is totally acceptable.
