re RE: Removing Air Filter?

Christopher Tipper <christophert@datair.com> described his trials and
tribulations removing the 1988 90q air filter.

It took me about 2 1/2 hours to do this on my own. Actually, the last 20
or 30 minutes I had a little help.

I think 30 minutes is a feasible time for the task if you know exactly what
you are doing, you don't discover other things to do in there, your octopus
hose is still adequately flexible, and you have a proper tool for the
clamps. I suspect in that much time you could also do it via removing the
headlight, and likely not spend any time cursing the means of connecting the
crankcase ventilation hose under the octopus hose. I use a big! screwdriver
to hold the metering head up while I mess in the airbox. Critical is first
disconnecting the grounds on the intake manifold, and other connectors.
Fortunately, this task has to be performed rarely, compared with , say, oil
changes.
