RE: Spring/shock setup for '84 4KQ

Dave,
Keep in mind what your asking. The springs you want for Auto
Cross and the ones you want ofr Rallying are vastly different. If you
want to d both you really need Coilovers. But, if you really cant do that
then you may consider using CQ springs. Theya re stiffer and talle.r
giving you a little more ride height and stiffness so you can handle bumps
better for Rallying but still reduce body roll. But, you are increasing
your CG so you will still have a serious roll problem. Probably best to
use the Cq sprins, then get stiffer roll bars to control Body roll and go
back to the stock Roll Bar setup for Rallying.
As for Shocks, Bilstines will work breat for both situations. I'm
ordering 4-HD's with custom valving to be stiffer than the normal
HD's. but I'm using HD's for the increased travel over the Sports. A
plus for rallying.
	Hope that helps a bit

So I'm looking ahead to next year when I plan on AutoXing the quattro. In
a few
years I hope to start rallying (production class obviously).

Anyone have advice on makes/models/prices of springs and shocks that will
give
me good track/rally performance without killing the ride or snow
performance?
The car will still be a daily driver so I don't want to go too far. And
forget
about coil-overs, I don't have the cash (unless someone on the list has a
set
that they're willing to part with for cheap).

TIA
