DSM is run by a couple of serious nerds, ex-lister Dan Bocek (83 urq, 1995 M3
coupe) is heavily involved in that site. Good information on the Colt, Dan,
it's engine is all mitsu, not dodge. The dodge GLH turbo used a chrysler
designed 2.2l turbo motor with a Bosch EFI system (with true programmed
overboost), produced in 1985 and 1986. The 2.2l motor is the replacement for
the 1.7l motor that was supplied by VW in the early omni years. The later
2.5L motor is a larger 2.2 derivitive. The early 2.2L turbo used the Garrett
T04 turbo, the later 2.5l turbo cars (1988>) used the mitsu VNT turbo, both
with integral WG. Neither application used an IC, although a Shelby version
of the 2.2L turbo cars (GLHS in omni and charger bodies) had larger
injectors, a different computer and a forced induction IC. The mitsu colt
turbo is a 1.6 mitsu engine/EFI and a mitsu turbo. I remember a buddy of
mine had one of these, 0-60 was 7.7sec stock, quite respectable for a little
pocket rocket. I drove one of the 2Lt converted cars, the words quattro come
to mind as you tackle the massive torque steer results (but what a blast!),
the same reason I sold my 225HP street GLH turbo car and went quattro. Lots
of modifications are still around for these mitsu cars, reference the DSM
site for more information (but do come back to this list, the dsm is an
awesome example of what a moderated list can accomplish).
HTH, good post dan.
