getting ready for a snow trip...

 Hi all...
    I am getting ready for my first snow trip in my new (to me) 86 4kcsq....
I will be leaving the day after Christmas...  I will be going up to Tahoe
from my home in Santa Cruz.. (about a 4 hour drive, the faster I drive the
less it will take)  What should I do to get the car ready?  I was thinking
about all new fluids, and getting the tires rebalanced (Costco tires
(205/60/14), free...)  Anything else? Should I get snow chains?  And if I
get them when should I use them?  Also, when should I use the differentials?
