Re: transaxle flange oil seal seating problems

    From what I recall when I did these seals on my '91 200q, the right seal
is driven against a stop and the left seal is driven to a specified depth
because there is no stop - you can drive the seal right into the tranny
(wouldn't THAT just make your day :o).
    I measured the depth on the old seal before I removed it and drove the
new one to the same depth. You may be able to judge the position by using a
small inspection mirror to look at the inside rim of the seal and drive it
to the inner rim of the seat. Sorry, I can't remember what the depth was -
probably had it in the logbook and I sold that with the car.
