-Horch (1899), Wanderer(1885), DKW(1907), Audi(1909) became Auto Union AG in
1932.  In 1949 the company was reorganized to become Auto Union GmbH.

-1958: Daimler-Benz holds 87.8% of the company

-NSU (1873) was reorganized to become NSU Motowerke AG in 1960.

-1964: Volkswagen buys into Auto Union AG (50.3%)

but I digress...

-In 1969, now as a Volkswagen subsidiary, the two companies were united as
Audi NSU Auto Union GmbH.  It was 1985 when the name became simply Audi AG.
